Most modern Heathens and Norse Pagans are under the impression that the Runes came from Odinn, and as such have a predominantly male or masculine importance. Whilst we do not disagree in principle with this assumption, over the years we have learned that there are also distinctly feminine qualities that can be attributed to many of the Runic symbols we are familiar with today which we view as The Elder Futhark Rune symbols.
The meanings of the Elder Futhark Runes have changed a lot over time and as society has changed, so have the ways people see these symbols. Some folks wonder if they've really evolved, or if their original meanings got lost in all the interpretation process as both society and cultural influences have evolved. With each new trend it seems like everyone has their own idea of what these symbols mean. Some say they're just letters, while others believe they hold some kind of magical power, only understood by a select few.
By studying them closely, we can try to figure out what they mean to us today and why they're still important to us in our everyday life.
The Daughters of Freyja, will present to you new ways of thinking and connecting to these powerful symbols.
We will be offering talks, workshops, and opportunities to connect, or re-connect in innovative ways to the symbols of the Elder Futhark.
